“Detestable Arts” is an original retelling of the Salem Witch Trials done in an immersive setting. The story takes place over an acre of space in beautiful Lewis Park, as well as inside the historic Old School Baptist Meeting House. The audience can get right in the middle of the accusations and trials that became one of Colonial America’s most notorious cases of mass hysteria. Everyone who attends will move freely throughout the space to experience the story in whatever order they choose. It’s a chance to be a part of the story, rather than just watching from a distance. Take a break from the performance and drink in the colonial-era tavern alongside the residents of Salem Village (drink tickets available at the door).

COVID Safety Information
We are so excited to bring this production to our audiences, yet we are also mindful of the ongoing pandemic. Please know that we are keeping the safety of both our company members and our audiences as the highest priority. We actually designed this show in response to the pandemic- as something that we knew we could do safely without compromising any storytelling or entertainment value. The show is primarily outdoors, the style of the show promotes social distancing and regular movement for both actors and audience, and we will be following the most current guidelines from our county health department in regards to capacity and masking. For any portions of the show that take place indoors, social distancing will be enforced (it will be done as a part of the show- you won’t even notice!) and masking will be required for all audience members. We are keeping a strict capacity limit for each entry time so that there is ample room for people to spread out indoors, and the doors will be kept open to keep the air flowing.
